Ian Norris likes to deal with material that is local, exploring the figure and the landscape as subjects. Norris paints exclusively from observation. "I am trying to express my feelings of being present in a place and not just the visual aspects of the landscape". Norris does this by painting in all weather conditions; sometimes early in the morning, sometimes late into the evening. He likes to use the smell, taste and feel of his surroundings to influence his work.
