Sarah Morley was born in Herefordshire in 1961. She painted and drew from an early age inspired by the beautiful Welsh Marches landscape. Sarah’s first career took her away from her art. But she was constantly fighting the urge to paint which refused to leave her. In 2011 she returned to painting full time and painting is now her vocation.
Sarah loves colour and texture. She paints in an impressionistic and expressive style. She uses a palette knife to create texture and apply colour directly to the painting. Occasionally her work contains some mixed media or collage. She remains inspired largely by nature. Some paintings are figurative whereas others are almost or completely abstract. Where a painting is abstract the inspiration is usually a previous figurative painting of the same subject.
Sarah is based in her studio at Vernon Mill, Stockport, where she is part of an artists’ collective of around 50 artists. The collective was known as Vernon Mill Artists but has recently been renamed Think Studios.
